You can fine-tune the way you are notified about new messages.

In the Alerts section of the settings you can choose the priority levels for which to show pop-up notifications for your messages. You can adjust settings for receiving reminders about previous notifications not attended to, including whether to play sounds or not when a new priority message arrives or hasn’t yet been read.
